Indoor Succulent Care Guide

Bright Light

Live succulents grow best in bright, direct sunlight. Place them near a south-facing window with 4–6 hours of light daily.
Low light may cause stretching or pale growth. Move plants closer to a window or use a full-spectrum grow light if needed.

Water Sparingly (Soak & Dry)

Succulents prefer dry soil between waterings. Overwatering is the most common issue indoors.

  • Allow soil to dry completely before watering
  • Check dryness near the drainage hole
  • Water thoroughly until excess drains out
  • Avoid misting
During fall and winter, growth slows and watering needs decrease. When unsure, wait.

Soil & Containers

Use fast-draining soil to support healthy roots:

  • 2 parts coarse sand, pumice, or perlite
  • 1 part standard potting soil
Always use pots with drainage holes. Avoid rocks at the bottom. Terracotta pots are recommended.

Fertilizing (Optional)

Fertilizer is not required. If used, apply a balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) at half strength once a month in spring and summer only. Do not fertilize in fall or winter.

Common Care Issues

  • Stretching or fading → Increase light
  • Soft or yellow leaves → Reduce watering and allow soil to dry
